Digital Branding

Build a complete brand identity from scratch: logo, colour palette, typography, and a brand guidelines document a client can hand to any designer. You finish with three brand identity projects in your portfolio and a clear process for pricing and pitching branding work to small businesses.

Module 1

Set Up Your Branding Toolkit

Module 2

Know What a Brand Actually Is

  • 2.1Separate brand, branding, and logo using three Nigerian business examples
  • 2.2Break down how GTBank, Chivita, and a local food vendor each signal value
  • 2.3Map the eight assets that make up a complete brand identity
  • 2.4Audit a brand you use daily and list what's working and what isn't

Module 3

Run Brand Discovery With a Client

  • 3.1Write a client questionnaire that uncovers goals, budget, and fears
  • 3.2Run a 30-minute discovery call using a script you can reuse
  • 3.3Define a target customer profile from real answers, not assumptions
  • 3.4Position the brand against two direct competitors in one sentence
  • 3.5Turn discovery notes into a one-page creative brief

Module 4

Build the Verbal Identity

  • 4.1Generate and shortlist brand names using four naming techniques
  • 4.2Check name availability on CAC, Instagram, and domain registrars
  • 4.3Write a tagline that states the benefit in seven words or fewer
  • 4.4Define a brand voice with three adjectives and do/don't examples
  • 4.5Write an About page and Instagram bio in the brand's voice

Module 5

Design the Visual Identity

  • 5.1Choose a logo type: wordmark, lettermark, combination, or emblem
  • 5.2Sketch 20 logo concepts on paper before touching Figma
  • 5.3Build your top concept in Figma using the pen tool and shape operations
  • 5.4Create logo variations: primary, horizontal, stacked, and favicon
  • 5.5Pick a colour palette that works on screen and in print
  • 5.6Pair two fonts and set a type scale for headings and body text

Module 6

Apply the Brand Across Real Touchpoints

  • 6.1Design a business card and letterhead ready for a Lagos printer
  • 6.2Build an Instagram post and story template the client can reuse
  • 6.3Design a WhatsApp Business profile and product catalogue layout
  • 6.4Mock up packaging or signage to show the brand in the real world
  • 6.5Export logos and assets in PNG, SVG, and PDF for every use case

Module 7

Package, Present, and Get Paid

  • 7.1Assemble a brand guidelines PDF covering logo, colour, type, and voice
  • 7.2Present your work to a client and defend your design decisions
  • 7.3Handle revision requests without redoing the whole project
  • 7.4Price branding packages in Naira and write a simple contract
  • 7.5Write a case study and post your project to Behance or Instagram

Module 8

Capstone: Brand a Real Business End to End

  • 8.1Find a real local business and run your discovery session
  • 8.2Deliver the strategy, name check, and creative brief
  • 8.3Design the full visual identity and three applications
  • 8.4Ship the brand guide, collect feedback, and add it to your portfolio
